I'm not really sure where to begin.
First off, Ubuntu Linux is a Debian-based free operating system from Canonical, Ltd. It works beautifully, looks good, is a pleasure to use, and refreshingly free of the "lack of focus" problems plaguing most other Linux distros. I think it is the future of Linux, and if I may be so bold, the future of the PC.
I'd love to contribute to it in some way, but alas, I don't know how. I'm a professional computer journalist, not a programmer (and 6502 Assembly and Flash don't count). That's where UbuntuHowTo.com comes in.
Chua Wen Kiat's amazing Unofficial Ubuntu Starter Guide (which you should check out right now if you haven't already) is a treasure trove of real-world useful Ubuntu setup tips, but it is a tightly-focused site geared for beginners. It should be. If every Linux distro had a site like Chua's, the world would be a better place.
The Unofficial Starter Guide needs to stay lean and mean, so Chua doesn't include esoteric, complicated, or atypical tips. But UbuntuHowTo.com can, and more.
My hope is that UbuntuHowTo.com will live as a repository of HowTos and advanced tips for Ubuntu Linux, with regular additions. In the future, I'd like people to add HowTos on their own, directly. But for now, we'll see how it goes.
